How is it that some Christians have come to believe that helping the poor and giving your fair share to support this country is “stealing”
It certainly is not stealing to share your blessings.
It certainly is not stealing to contribute your fair share if you have been blessed.
Although I do not support everything that is done by the government with my taxes, I recognize my responsibility as a citizen to contribute to those who are less fortunate than me. Unlike the real Joe the Plumber, my taxes WILL go up under the Obama administration.
I will pay them gladly because I feel it will go a long way to improve our country.
Joe the plumber needs to do some more research to discover that the Obama plan will actually HELP him more than McCain’s plan.
For any interested right wing Christians please see various quotes from the New Testament by Jesus for more information.
Mark 10:21 – And Jesus looking upon him loved him, and said to him, “You lack one thing; go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”
Talk about spreading the wealth !

Breaking News from CBS
A CBS News instant poll of uncommitted voters who viewed the debate gave the edge to Obama by a margin of 53-22 percent. Twenty-four percent said the debate was a draw. Uncommitted voters also thought Obama won the first and second debates.
Before the debate, 54 percent thought Obama shared their values. That percentage rose to 63 percent after the debate. For McCain, 53 percent thought he shared their values before the debate, and 56 percent thought so afterwards.

The McCain-Palin campaign made an irretrievable tactical error when they decided to go down the road of “Obama paling around with Domestic terrorists“. The fact of the matter is that Americans KNOW who Barack Obama is and they like him.
Despite the concerted smear tactics from right wing radio and the internet; people know this man and they like what they see.
For McCain and Palin to attack him as some sort of radical, left wing, nation of islam, black panther terrorist was foolish and what’s worse it brought out the nut-jobs who make up the Republican base.
This failed on multiple levels.
First and foremost it has unified and energized Democrats to an unbelievable extent.
Secondly it has completely fractured the Republicans by:
- Energizing the fringe right
- Disgusting the moderate right (many of whom are speaking out against McCain as we speak and many others who will jump off the ship as they see it going down. And
- Alienating undecided Republicans and independents who view the economy as the most important image.
It is clear that when the history of this campaign is written that perhaps the most iconic moment will be John McCain pulling the mike out of the hands of a lady who called Barack Obama “an arab“.
It symbolized John McCain’s lame effort to put out a fire that he had carelessly started.

The Republicans will do anything to win this election. Their lies are overwhelming and innumerable.

What is most striking about this line of attack is that it is not coming from an outside organization or 529 group (a la Swiftboat Veterans, etc) but that the meme is being propelled from the very mouths of the nominees of the Republican party.
Great red meat for the base, but I think most other observers will find it distasteful and inappropriate given the challenges before our nation.
Forget about a landslide for Obama. That is a forgone conclusion. This signals an end to the Republican party as we know it. Their foreign policy credentials are shot. Osama Bin Laden (the murderer of 3000 Americans has gone scott free for 7 years, and their economic policies have been shown to be a fraud.
All we have is a sad shadow of a once respectable man (McCain) decrying Wall Street greed (a little too late) and playing the “terrorist” card.
These guys are finished.
